Black Tie Affair
Acrylic and crushed opals on canvas, 10x10
Inspired by the classic bowtie quilt pattern, which dates back to the 1880s, and is also referred to as the Colonial Bow Tie, Peekhole or Lover's Knot. I used ivory black acrylic paint, adding modeling paste to create the rich texture of the bowtie, and lava rock crushed opals that shimmer with hints of red.
